Find all of my best Microwave “Steamed” Sponge Pudding recipes in one easy place. From 10 minute everyday sponges to a festive favourite in a fraction of the usual time, the best thing is you’ll never know they weren’t steamed for hours!
I’ve loved finally sharing these recipes for the sponge puddings that I’ve been whipping up on a whim my whole life. They’re simple, versatile and can be easily adapted to use what you have in your pantry. But most of all they’re comforting and delicious.
I’ve gathered all of these cheat’s sponge puddings here. They’re all made in a 1 litre bowl and with the exception of the Christmas pudding which is much denser, they all serve 4 generously or 6 after a large meal like a roast dinner.
Again with the exception of the Christmas pud, they all utilise the all in one mixing method. This means you just need to do weigh your ingredients into a bowl and give them a mix (ideally with an electric mixer). Add them to your cooking bowl on top of any topping like lemon curd, golden syrup or jam and into the microwave they go. It couldn’t be any simpler.

Everyday Microwave Sponge Puddings
These are the sponges that I make year round, making the most of what I have in the cupboard and whatever flavour I happen to fancy making that day.
Festive Microwave Puddings
This recipe took so much testing to perfect! But now I have, it’s the recipe I’ll be making every year, including making some as gifts.
Custard, Cream or Ice Cream?
You need to serve your pudding with something. If you’re going the hot route, try one of these custard recipes.
