From delicious bacon to meaty sausages, fried mushrooms to grilled tomatoes and hash browns to fried bread, you can find all of my simple Air Fryer Full English Breakfast Recipes here. Plus I’ve included a few extra ideas for breakfasts and brunches – although they’re all equally delicious at any time of day!
Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day, regardless of what time I’m eating it. Anything involving bacon and eggs is my achilles heel and I eat some kind of variation most days. But the motherload of joy comes when I’m making and eating a full English breakfast.
What I won’t tolerate is moaning about what constitutes a full English breakfast. If you think it should always have 8 very specific elements then that’s cool – make it exactly how you like it. But like with a roast dinner, there is no set make up to what makes a full English. And if it really upsets you, just call it a fry up!
Of course there are certain elements that are very common and almost non-negotiable. For me this includes bacon, eggs of some kind, sausages, baked beans and some kind of bread, whether that’s a toasted bagel, buttered bun/roll, crispy croissant, regular toast, fried bread or a fried slice. Mushrooms are going to make an appearance 90% of the time.
And of course I’m going to have a strong cup of builders tea on the side (2 teabags, 2 sugars, just a drop of milk and leave it to brew please).
Is it an English, Welsh, (N) Irish or Scottish Breakfast?
The basic concept of the full fried breakfast is very similar across each of the Home Nations and Ireland. Where you’re eating it is going to be the biggest overriding factor. But there are a few items that you might commonly find on one that you are much less likely to find on the others.
Welsh Breakfast – larverbread (a seaweed); cockles; Glamorgan sausages.
Irish Breakfast – Soda bread; white pudding; potato bread.
Scottish Breakfast – Square lorne sausage; tattie scones; haggis: slice dumpling (fruit dumpling).
I’m still working on the air fryer versions of a whole bunch of breakfast elements. And I haven’t created air fryer recipes for any of these variations just yet but watch this space, you never know what’s coming…

I don’t like using the word vegetable with breakfast because it just doesn’t sound right! But that’s what these are.
Even baked beans which I don’t suggest you cook in the air fryer count as one of your 5 a day so you could include them here too.
