These Air Fryer Fine Green Beans are a really simple side dish that involves no pre-boiling and which cooks in barely any time at all. They're soft but keep some bite and take on a lovely colour - tasty perfection.
If your air fryer requires pre-heating, start this setting now.
Trim each end of 200g Fine Green Beans and discard any beans that might not be of the best quality. I'm sure they put a rogue one in every packet.
If the beans are in a bag, you can do this quickly and easily but lining them all up at one end of the bag and then cutting straight through the whole batch.
Repeat the process with the other end of the bag.
Whilst this trick works well to speed up the process, one or two ends always get missed so just check and lop off any remaining.
Place the beans into a bowl or onto a plate and drizzle over 1 tbsp Oil and ½ tsp Sea Salt Flakes.
Toss to thoroughly coat the beans.
Place the green beans into the air fryer basket. Try to arrange them so they are in one layer as much as possible - this will help the air flow and ensure even cooking.
Cook for 10 minutes at 200c/390f.
Serve when the beans have a little colour and they're tender with just a little bit of bite.
Notes
Servings - 200g of green beans will serve 2 people as a main vegetable side to a meal. If you are serving a variety of other sides such as on a roast dinner, this quantity will stretch to 4 servings.
Oil - Choose your oil to match your flavouring. For example use garlic, salt and rosemary with olive oil or for a more neutral flavour, sea salt and black pepper with vegetable oil.
Seasoning/Salt - Choose any seasoning mix, spices or dried/fresh herbs. Make sure that salt is included in the mix. You can also add a little citrus juice.
I used vegetable oil with just sea salt flakes.
The air fryer version of this recipe is tested in a Cosori Lite (CAF-LI401S) with a 3.8 litre capacity. The square(ish) shaped basket is 21cm x 21cm and 24cm on the diagonal.
Not all models advise preheating is required. Please follow the recommended instructions for your model. Mine has a specific preheat setting which is 4 minutes at 205c.
For this recipe, I can just fit 200g Trimmed Fine Green Beans in the basket at a time. This gives plenty of room to allow air to circulate. If you need to cook more, it will be fine to layer them a little but you will want to give the basket a shake a couple of times during cooking.
As all air fryer models are a little different, you may find that you can fit more or less in at a time. Some models include stacking shelves which will increase capacity.
Required cooking times and temperatures can also vary between models and brands. If you know that your air fryer runs a little hotter than most recipes suggest, use a lower temperature. And vice versa. Equally if you find that food cooks more quickly in your machine than instructions usually state, reduce the cooking time (or check it earlier) and vice versa.
