Roasted strawberries are a revelation. Easy to make in the air fryer or oven, they are intense in flavour and look fantastic. Use these sweet and glossy strawberries in a breakfast bowl, folded into a dessert or simply top with whipped creams for a delicious snack.
Trim the tops off 500g Fresh Strawberries. Cut any very large ones into 3 slices, medium ones in half and leave any small ones whole.ORAllow 500g Frozen Strawberries to thaw to the point that you're able to cut them in the same way as fresh.
To Oven Cook
Preheat the oven to 180c fan | 190c | 375f.
Place the strawberries in an ovenproof dish - try to allow them room to sit in a simple layer. If air frying, make sure that the dish fits in the air fryer with space left for the air to circulate.
Scatter over 2 tbsp Sugar and gently toss.
Bake in the oven for 25 minutes. Give the strawberries a gentle stir/turn after 10 minutes and then after 20 minutes. Reduce the cooking time by 5 minutes if cooking from semi frozen.
If using for trifle, allow to cool fully before adding to the other layers.
To Air Fry
Start the preheat setting on your air fryer if you have one.
Place the strawberries in a suitable dish. Make sure that the dish fits in the air fryer with space left for the air to circulate. If you don't have a dish (or silicone liner) which is large enough, you can make a makeshift dish using foil. Make sure it is thick enough and double up layers if needed.
Scatter over 2 tbsp Sugar and gently toss.
Air fry at 160c | 320f for 13 minutes. Give the strawberries a a gentle stir/turn after 5 minutes and then after 10 minutes. Reduce the cooking time by 3 minutes if cooking from semi frozen.
If using for trifle, allow to cool fully before adding to the other layers.
