Ribs, Slaw & Sweet Potato. What a combination! This everyday feast combines my mexican spiced ribs with creamy coleslaw and garlicky sweet potatoes. Its a match made in heaven and a super quick meal to whip up. It can even be prepared in advance. Finger licking good by anyone’s standards!

I’ve written a comprehensive guide how to host a Big Americana Feast. But you can have an Americana Feast on a much smaller scale. I regularly make myself a feast for one!
I’ve put together a selection of smaller collections of my recipes which you can use everyday. This is my eat-it-with-your-hands pile of ribs and sides menu. Don’t forget to have a look at my other everyday Americana Feasts too!
Everyday Ribs, Slaw & Sweet Potato Americana Feast Recipes
This combination of recipes is easy to whip up in a little over an hour. Click on each recipe for all the details and possible variations or scroll down to save all the recipes in one hit using the recipe collection feature.
In addition to the below recipe, I would also serve a simple salad with this collection. My go-to side salad is baby spinach or rocket (arugula) leaves, halved cherry tomatoes and very finely sliced red onion. I leave it undressed as the coleslaw provides plenty of dressing.
Dry Rub Ribs with Mexican Seasoning
Or, as an alternative, you could make my boiled and then glazed BBQ Pork Ribs. The meal also works equally well with my Honey Maple Chicken Wings or my Southern Baked Wings.
The recipe as given serves 4 people so adjust this as required.
Garlic Roasted Sweet Potatoes
The sweet potatoes take the same amount of time to cook as the ribs. Perfect!
The recipe is set to serve 2 people as a great sized side. You can adjust the portion size in the recipe card.
Easy Creamy Coleslaw with Crème Fraîche
The coleslaw takes just 15 minutes to make. I start to make it just as the ribs and potatoes go in the oven so that it has a chance to stand and come up to room temp before serving. This gives all the flavours a chance to meld.
The recipe is perfect to serve 4 as a side but can be adjusted in the recipe card.

Drinks for Americana Feasts
Check out my dedicated post all about Americana Inspired drinks.
I’ve included ideas for soft and alcoholic drinks as well as some ideas for hot drinks. There should be something for everyone and something for every season.
I’ve also given you loads of advice about how and in what to serve your drinks. Who says that you can’t have a glass of something special even when you’re feasting alone!
